Resins
- RESYDROL®waterborne alkyd emulsions illustrate Cytec’s pioneering vision of environmentally friendly coatings. They enable formulators to achieve high performance coatings used in Decorative, Industrial and Automotive OEM applications.
- ALPEX® cyclized rubber resins, in combination with alkyd resin and plasticizers, are used to formulate chemical resistant or weather resistant anticorrosion paints. They are used also in printing inks.
- BECKOPOX™ epoxy resins and hardeners are used on concrete and metal substrates in various market segments such as concrete floorings, industrial primers or marine applications.
- BECKOCOAT®1K moisture curing polyurethane resins enable coating manufacturers to design high end wood and concrete flooring coatings, where they provide superior abrasion and impact resistance, as well as fast curing and high gloss.
- DUROXYN®epoxy resin esters are traditionally used to formulate anticorrosion primers and zinc rich paints for application on metal, where they show excellent properties of adhesion, hardness and flexibility. New generation waterborne cationic epoxy resin esters demonstrate outstanding tannin and stain blocking properties on wood and mineral substrates.

- STEPANPOL® aromatic polyester polyols are high quality polyester polyols that are based on ortho-ester linkages. By using phthalic anhydride as the building block, Stepan polyols deliver enhanced hydrolytic stability and diverse substrate adhesion while improving abrasion resistance and overall hardness. The major end uses include liquid and hot melt urethane adhesives, polyurethane dispersions, thermalbreak, cast elastomers, and surface coatings.
Amino Crosslinkers
Catalysts

- Linear, non-crosslinked polymers are recommended for a variety of adhesive and sealant applications. When incorporated in a solvent along with appropriate tackifier, these polymers produce tacky cements for bonding, coating and sealing applications, including tapes and labels.
- Partially crosslinked polymers produce adhesives and sealants with a non-stringy, buttery consistency. They are particularly useful for caulking compounds, mastics and sprayable adhesives.
- Cold SBR polymers are ideal for a myriad of applications. Their narrower molecular weight distribution make them ideal for products such as tires, footwear, flooring and others in need of wear resistance and processing versatility.

- AEROSOL® range of sulfosuccinate surfactants for application as wetting, emulsifying, dispersing and solubilising agents.
- JAYPOL™ Dispersants are low-viscosity functional components that improve the quality and processability of waterborne coatings.
- JAYPOL™ Co-binders are based on acrylate technology. They are low in molecular weight, so the polymer chain fits into the interstices in the micro-surface of the substrate – creating good flow and surface contact, improving coverage and surface adhesion. They are designed to have different glass transition points, and can modify the flexibility and hardness of commodity resins with much less effect on other properties than coalescing agents or plasticizers. They can also be designed to crosslink on heating to produce tougher, more abrasion resistant finishes, without the use of melamine/formaldehyde or urea/formaldehyde resins.
- JAYPOL™ rheology modifiers are designed for high-solids dispersions of inorganic minerals in water (slurries) and their applications in coatings, emphasizing the underlying chemical effects.
- WOOD CARE Technology by ISP is a comprehensive approach to wood protection and to the creation of high quality wood coatings products. ISP has developed technology that addresses the four major sources of wood degradation – UV light, fungi & algae, water and insects – and introduced a series of ingredients that will allow the wood coatings formulator the ability to create premium end-use products.
- ACTIV-8® and ACTIV-8 HGL drier accelerators are used to optimize drier performance in a wide range of coatings. The active ingredient is 1,10-phenanthroline, offered in different solvent blends. The solutions perform well with manganese and/or cobalt driers in solvent- and waterborne coatings. 1,10-phenanthroline Technical Grade is also available.
- VANCOR® corrosion inhibitors are metallic sulfonates in solvents that are not on the HAPS list. Calcium and barium sulfonates are available. Salt-spray tests have shown that these products improve the corrosion
- VAN GEL® B and VEEGUM® T smectite clays (magnesium aluminum silicate) are inorganic thixotropes specially formulated for easy incorporation and consistent performance in aqueous systems. Aqueous dispersions of VAN GEL B or VEEGUM T are highly thixotropic gels at low solids, and are resistant to bacterial and enzymatic degradation.
- RHEOTOL® is a stable nonreactive film-forming organic composition. Useful in solventborne coatings, RHEOTOL performs as a mixing and dispersing aid in many types of paint, particularly those based on poor wetting vehicles. It assists pigment wetting and dispersion, improves flow, leveling and gloss, and increases paste flow, allowing a higher percentage of pigment to be mixed in a given amount of vehicle.
- VANZAN® anionic polysaccharide (xanthan gum) forms pseudoplastic colloidal solutions in water and is insoluble in most organic liquids. VANZAN has exceptional thickening, suspending and stabilizing properties in the presence of acids, bases and salts, and at elevated temperatures.
- DARVAN® surfactants are anionic dispersing agents for aqueous systems. They disperse finely divided solids in water and help to keep them dispersed.
Color Pigments
- BAYFERROX® and COLORTHERM® high Performance iron and chrome oxide pigments from LANXESS are specifically developed for the paint and coating industry and fulfill the highest quality requirements. The variety of applications ranges from emulsion and decorative paints, industrial and powder coatings, coil coatings, automotive coatings and corrosion protection to wood or furniture coatings.
By volume, iron oxide pigments are the most commonly used color pigments. The color range includes Yellows, Oranges, Reds, Browns and Blacks. Green color shades are based on chrome oxides. In between the colors mentioned above a wide variety of additional shades is possible. All LANXESS products are distinguished by their high quality. This leads to a quick, easy and safe dispersion within the application. Apart from their high color stability, the inorganic pigments are lightfast and weather stable. This ensures a high level of consistency within the paint system. The pigments are manufactured using high-tech, state-of the-art and environmentally friendly processes. All LANXESS pigment production facilities worldwide are ISO certified.
Mineral Products/Silicate Extender Pigments
- PYRAX® pyrophyllite (Hydrous Aluminum Silicate) is useful as an extender pigment when a relatively coarse material is required. Its micaceous structure helps to control the mud cracking of texture paints.
- VANSIL® wollastonite (Calcium Metasilicate) is a high brightness mineral filler and functional extender pigment for paint. VANSIL has a relatively high pH (10-11) that maintains the pH of latex paints in the desired range. It has low binder demand and low water solubility.
- VANCOTE® wollastonite is a VANSIL grade with either an amino or epoxy silane treatment to improve the adhesion of coatings and corrosion resistance.
- PEERLESS®, DIXIE CLAY® and BILT-PLATES® (Kaolin Hydrous Aluminum Silicate) fillers are air-floated clays available in grades that vary in brightness and fineness. They are used in coatings, primers, crack fillers and caulking compounds when high brightness is not a prerequisite.
Solvents
- SANTOSOL®products are dimethylesters of adipic, glutaric and succinic acids. They are clear, colorless liquids offering a unique combination of high solvency power, low volatility and cost, high flash point, and are readily biodegradable.
- ISP's Industrial business manufactures intermediate and solvent products including BUTANEDIOL (B1D), TETRAHYDROFURAN (THF), N-METHYL 2 PYRROLIDONE (M-PYROL®), BUTYROLACTONE (BLO), 2-PYRROLIDONE (2-PYROL®) and PROPARGYL ALCOHOL.
